  • Chicken & Avacado: RATED

We're always keen to try a new Subway variety at the local Subway counter, you can imagine we were pretty damn excited when we heard about the Subway Chicken & Avocado Sub. Big questions started being asked however, "What sauce?", "...HOW MUCH?".

For that same dollar you can get BACON

Yes thats right, the local Subway store was covered in signs promoting Avocado -- only a dollar extra!? What tripe, especially considering the 'default' amount of Avocado is a measly TWO scoops. Our lovely hostess being promptly told off for putting extra on our Subway canvas... VERY disappointing.

For that same dollar you can get BACON -- much more value there. Chicken & Bacon Ranch vs Chicken & Avacado sub?? no contest. Not to mention I go grab an entire Avacado for $1 at the local fruit shop! Ok sure I can probably grab all the other ingredients for cheap as well, but thats not the point!

In the end however, the sauce (sweet chili) we chose worked a charm with the larger amount of Avo we managed to get crammed on... but we won't get going back, the value simply isn't there.

    Final Verdict: Dud Sub

Mitch Tip #18:

While you may have heard the saying "Good things come in small packages", this surely doesn't apply to sub sandwiches. When given the option of a 6 inch or a footlong, paying the extra few dollars for the footlong is a decision you won't likely regret.

Even if I have no intention of eating 12 inchs of Sub goodness, I always order a footlong. In my experience, any uneaten sub inches can be frozen for up to 3 years for consumption at a later date. View more of Mitch's tips.
